Customers often describe Mike's as the go-to spot for breakfast near Fort Greene, appreciating not only the generous portions but also the excellent prices, especially in a Brooklyn neighborhood where quality and affordability don’t always go hand in hand. The lines on busy Saturday mornings speak volumes about its popularity, yet the wait feels worthwhile for the delicious omelettes paired with perfectly cooked home fries and your choice of toast.
It’s not just the food and prices that keep people coming back; it’s the heart and soul poured into every plate and poured cup of coffee. As one long-time patron wonderfully put it, Mike’s is much more than a diner—it’s a cornerstone of the community, a place where locals gather for genuine comfort food, great coffee, and the kind of friendly service that makes every visit feel special.
The service was great. We ordered egg salad club sandwich and mexican omelette. The food was so yummy. Classic diner in town

Mike’s is our go-to breakfast whilst we’re staying near Fort Greene. You absolutely have to go here. It’s a truly classic diner with great food Nd a really warm, buzzy atmosphere. To top it all off, the service is exceptional! They were really helpful with allergens too. No dairy, no problem.
Great neighborhood diner that provides the best prices I’ve seen in the area. My friends and I came here for Saturday morning brunch and there was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. We ordered omelettes, which come with your choice of potatoes or grits and your choice of whole wheat or white toast (excellent deal!). We also ordered blueberry pancakes for the table. Everything tasted fine, though the pancakes were a bit on the bland side. Service was speedy and friendly. All in all, I 100% recommend this spot for breakfast, lunch or brunch any day of the week — and if you incur a line, know that it’s worth the wait.
This place is a Brooklyn institution! A real neighborhood coffee shop serving up comfort food and great coffee. Love it
Great local diner! The staff was very friendly. I was in NYC for a few days and ate breakfast here twice. The portions were a good size and the food came out piping hot. I’m from the south so I wasn’t sure about how the grits would come out. Overall, not bad for NYC. They were a little watery for my taste, but again not bad. They had counter seating if you are rolling solo. Space is a bit tight, but manageable. I went around 9am and had at most a 10 minute wait the first time and no wait the second time. I would definitely go back again for breakfast.
Stopped by Mike’s Cafe on a Sunday morning and really enjoyed it. It’s a laid-back, classic New York spot with friendly service and a steady stream of regulars. I got two eggs, toast, bacon, and homefries, everything was really good, though the homefries could’ve been a bit crispier. It was super busy, which makes sense for the weekend, and while we had to sit outside, I was glad we found a table. Would definitely go back.
Loved this place so much. Super friendly, fast service, tasty food for a good price. Only visiting but came back twice in 2 days!
